The brief for kaap studio architects was to connect dark, cramped spaces at the ground floor of this two-storey family home and create generous family space whilst maximising light and connection to the lush garden.
The large rear extension incorporates minimally framed sliding glass doors and corner glazing to create a strong connection and views to the garden and the large strip rooflight brings light in the heart of the home.
An oak-wrapped box in the middle of the ground floor conceals much needed practical functions such as a utility room as well as ample storage for the young family. Doors have been designed with clever insets to form elegant handles whilst a monochrome material palette and simple modern lines provide a calm canvas for busy family living.
